God’s 8 Laws of Health: A Biblical and Natural Guide

The 8 laws of health are principles that help us maintain physical, mental, and spiritual balance. Below is a practical summary and a “Health Tip” from Dr. Manuel Alva for each one.
Nutrition
Nourish your body with a balanced, plant-based diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Health Tip: Eat what God made and originally recommended in (Genesis 1:29; 3:18). Clean meats were permitted only under certain conditions (kosher/halal). Animal and processed products significantly lower immunity. God wants us to return to His original plan. If you want to help others, don’t judge them—prepare a delicious vegetarian dish instead!
Exercise
Maintain health and increase vitality through regular physical activity.
Health Tip: Walk every day, spend more time standing, and avoid sitting for more than 30 minutes. (Exodus 14:15)
Water
Stay hydrated for health, using water both internally and externally.
Health Tip: Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day. Avoid sugary drinks, soda, and coffee. (Matthew 10:42)
☀️ Sunlight
Take advantage of the benefits of sunlight, including its vital role in the production of vitamin D.
Health Tip: Sunlight activates the neuro-immune system. Sun rays produce vitamin D3 in the skin; light awakens the brain and triggers endorphins that boost immunity. (Matthew 5:16)
⚖️ Temperance
Practice moderation and abstain from harmful substances such as alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.
Health Tip: Use with moderation what is good and avoid anything harmful (alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, any addictive agent). Temperance means “self-control,” a fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:23)
Air
Breathe fresh and clean air to sustain health and well-being.
Health Tip: Do breathing exercises – take 10 deep breaths upon waking up and every 4 hours while awake. Avoid tobacco smoke or industrial fumes. (Genesis 2:7). Pray, talk to God, sing praises. (James 5:13)
Rest
Prioritize adequate rest, including regular sleep and the principle of Sabbath rest.
Health Tip: Rest in our Father God; sleep in peace by surrendering all your problems to Him. (Psalm 4:8). Rest with the Lord Jesus every Sabbath – the seventh day. (Exodus 20:8-11)
Trust in God
Promote mental health through faith in God and the psychological and spiritual benefits it provides.
Health Tip: God is love. (1 John 4:8). Replace the word “love” with “God” in (1 Corinthians 13) to understand Him more deeply. He has plans for your good (Jeremiah 29:11) and wants a close relationship with you. (Jeremiah 29:13). Nothing is impossible for Him: (Genesis 18:14; Matthew 19:26; Mark 10:27; Luke 1:37; Luke 18:27)
